Five year old Michael is a pre-schooler in Maryland, and his world is all about dogs.
His love for man’s best friend has been evident since he was two and began playing with the family Doberman, Brody. Since then, Brody has slept on
the rug in Michael’s room instead of her plush bed in the master bedroom.
When Michael visits the homes of family and friends, he refers to them as the dog’s house rather than the people’s house. For example, on
Thanksgiving, instead of going to his cousin's house, he says he is going to “Thunder's house” (their family’s Lab). When he gets invited on
play dates, his level of excitement is primarily determined by whether or not they have a dog. When he goes to his grandmother's house he insists
on taking Brody because he is afraid she will get lonely or have to let out.
When Michael was three years old, announced he was going to be a veterinarian when he grows up. Of course, he has a vet kit and all the accessories.
Like all kids his age, Michael loves to go to Build a Bear; however, he doesn't have a single stuffed bear on his bed. Instead he has stuffed
dogs with clothes, dog beds, carrying cases, etc.
This year, for Michael's Christmas present from his parents, he received $50.00 that he could donate to any charity he chose. After reviewing
some of his options with his parents, Michael knew he wanted to donate the money to a dog-related cause.
He visited DAR&E's website with his
Mom and they looked at the photos and success stories. He loved hearing about them and seeing their pictures and immediately decided to
give his money to DAR&E.
The volunteers at DAR&E think this warm hearted boy is an inspiration to everyone! He came out to our Santa Day to personally deliver his donation.
While he was there, he enjoyed a visit with Santa and plenty of dogs as well!
A huge thank you from all our volunteers and Dobermans to Michael for your gift!
