Santa Paws 2007 Update!

DAR&E would like to give a HUGE thank you to the many folks who supported us with donations for our Santa Paws fundraiser! Your generosity is amazing, heartwarming and will truely help us to help more Dobermans in the upcoming year. This year your donations exceeded $8500 in cash and gift cards plus boxes and boxes of goodies & toys for our foster dogs!

Our Santa Paws letter was mailed out to our DAR&E supporters, adopters and posted on the internet just after Thanksgiving. This letter featured two of our foster dogs, Ricky Bobby and Raj. We'd like to update you on these two Doberboys.

Ricky Bobby was a 7 month old black and rust Doberboy. He had been dumped at the shelter because his original owner did not know how to properly care for his cropped ears. As a result of leaving the original surgical wrapping on his ears for well over a month, his ears were a terrible mess of infection, which required surgery to remove the portions that could not be saved. DAR&E provided him with the needed medical car, and RB was left with cute little teddy bear ears. This rambuctious youngster bounced his way into the hearts of DAR&E adopters just before the holidays. I'm sure Santa knew he wanted a forever home for Christmas!

Raj was also on our Santa Paws letter, and dontations for him have meant we could afford the needed vet care. Raj needed an MRI, and follow on care with a specialist. The final outcome is we've discovered we cannot cure Raj's condition, but he's not in pain and is now available for adoption! You can read Raj's entire story on our website - click here!
