RILEY B's STORY

Hi, my name is Riley B and here is my story.

I came to DAR&E in an unusual way, discarded and no longer wanted by my owners who just let me run free. Also running with me was Vixen. We ate what we could find, and slept where we could find shelter. A good samaritan had picked us up, and brought us to the vet where she knew of an organization called DAR&E. They were called, and here I am.

We were taken to the vet, me and Vixen. Someone named Kathleen visited us to see what foster home we could go to. Vixen was giving kisses as Kathleen came to the kennel. The kennel tech said "this one isnt as friendly", and so I barked like mad trying to tell her it wasn't true. I was friendly, just a little scared. Vixen went into foster care right away, and I shortly thereafter. Kathleen must have heard what I was saying, cause I got to go to her home for foster care. Whatever that is.

Anyway, Kathleen had just lost her own boy and was sad. I could tell. I was very sick at first, but I still tried to cheer her up. I got to play a bit with Kayla and she set all the rules right up front. That's ok, cause I now had a full belly, a warm place to sleep and lots and lots of toys and treats.

Well, I must've done something right cause now I don't call her Kathleen any more. I call her Mom, and Kayla is my sister. I'm a good boy and try to help Kayla protect the yard from all those rascally rabbits and such. I was offical the day after Christmas and haven't looked back at my old life at all. I get to see Vixen (now Ruby) at our training classes, and she did pretty good for herself. Anyway…..that's how I came to DAR&E and also to my Mommy, and my Daddy is pretty ok too.
