Gypsy - A Forever-Home Rescue Foundation
Gypsy is 2 year old female Doberman. She came to us from the Hampshire County Humane Society.
Mary Jane - Hanover Humane Society
I was recently rescued from a local animal shelter. As you can see, I am a beautiful red dobie, a purebred with papers, about 3 years old, and seem to have a wonderful temperament. As they went to take these pictures, I so enjoyed luxuriating in the grass, they had a hard time getting a shot of me standing up! My photographer thought I was pretty goofy and quite charming. They will soon finish testing and vaccinating me, and getting me spayed. Then I'll be ready to go home - how nice that sounds! The fee to adopt me is $250 - what a bargain! If you would like to adopt me, you better act fast - they already have some interest in me! Send an email inquiry for more information, or stop by the HHS kennels on Saturdays between 12 Noon and 3 PM, when volunteers are onsite to assist you. The facility is located at 12190 Washington Highway (Route 1) in Ashland.
Sunshine - FURS
Need a little sunshine in your life? Well then come meet me - my name is Sunshine! I'm a super sweet, quiet 45 poundish female dobie/hound mix. I'm very friendly with people and like other dogs. I was abandoned with some of my friends and animal control saved me. I didn't like having to fend for myself all alone so I'm looking for a great new family that will love me for the rest of my life! So remember - if you need a little Sunshine, I'm here waiting to give it to you! FURS only adopts to homes in the Richmond, VA area. Applications can be completed on line at www.fursdogs.com
Cayman - DC Area Weimaraner Rescue
Cayman is a 4 year old Weimaraner or fawn Doberman. She is house trained and good when left alone if confined to one room. Cayman is good with kids and other large dogs. No cats or small dogs. She is protective of her yard with strangers. Cayman knows basic obedience commands.
Astro - B.A.R.K.
Astro is a really nice 1 - 2 year old doberman mix looking for a home to call his own. He does love to run and play so his ideal home would have a fenced yard or a very active person. Please call (804) 449-BARK or email terri@barkva.org if you would like to meet Astro.
Isabella - Beath Animal Shelter
Isabella is a lovely dog, about 2 years old, weighing about 40 lbs. She will greet you with one brown eye and the other pale blue, a happy face, a soft shiny coat of black and tan, and a wagging tail. She is ready to play and learn new games. She has been spayed. If she is like her sister Ruby (who found a loving home in Wilmington NC), she will have no problem with housetraining. Isabella is a jewel of the rarest kind. Isabella is very willing to be your best companion. You may call for her at 434-983-7387
Curtis - Knine Rescue
Curtis, a handsome dobe mix. Curtis lives on a farm so is used to living with farm animals. He is NOT a good mix with cats. Curtis is high energy & will need daily exercise. We will require that his new person takes him to obedience training.
Curtis will need to be crated in a car & be socialized around other dogs since he is quite reactive to dogs when on a leash. The perfect home for Curtis would be an active person/family who will take Curtis to dog training. Children in family should be older (12+) & absolutely NO CATS. Hotmail to Curtis: swamppoodle@peoplepc.com.
Thor - Spay/Neuter Inc.
Hi, my name is Thor and I'm a very sweet boy. It used to be Prince, but I wasn't treated like one. I am 4 years old and will be available for adoption as soon as I gain weight & get healthy. I'm very skinny because I was chained outside & not taken care of. I also had a very bad UTI. These pictures were taken after I was in foster care for a month & getting good food, so you can imagine how bad I looked before. As soon as I get healthy, I will be a very handsome man and a very big boy.
I will be tested for Heartworm, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped as soon as I am well enough. I will be checked for and treated (if needed) for ear mites, fleas, and worms before going to my new home.
My adoption donation is $300 and helps offset veterinary care received.
Ryan - Tails of Hope Sanctuary
Special Needs! Ryan is a blind Doberman. He does extremely well with some assistance and will do exactly what you want him to do when he understands what you're asking of him.
O'Shea is a wonderful, loving, senior, blind Doberman. He suffered abuse at an earlier age, which is how he lost his sight. This gentle boy wants nothing more
than to be loved by someone. He is in a foster home at this time and his foster "mom" says that he is a delight. He is housebroken and very willing to please.
He just needs to understand what you want him to do and he will do it. He is a very smart boy! (Click on his name above for photos and more information)
Kane - Animal Rescue of Maryland
Kane is a very handsome guy!! He currently weighs about 85 lbs but we expect he will gain a little more weight as he was somewhat underweight when we got him. Kane is very well behaved and knows basic commands. He loves to lay his head in your lap for rubs. Of course, he loves to lean on you as well! Kane is estimated to be 7 years old and in good health. He is a wonderful dog. For more information on Kane, please write to info@animalrescueofmd.org
