I've been adopted!
DAR&E only places within the Maryland, DC, West Virginia and Virginia area. Please do no apply to adopt if you live outside of those areas. Please click here to visit our Adoption Process page for additional information on adopting one of our DAR&E Dobermans & an online application!
Our dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots and microchipped.
Deimos is a 1 year old black/rust male dobie. He has cropped ears, a docked tail and the most beautiful eyes. They are the perfect shade of brown. Deimos currently weighs about 60 lbs.
He came into DAR&E thin so we are working on putting some weight on him. Deimos will also fill out as he matures so I expect he will mature to be a 70-75 lb dobe.
Since Deimos was apparently under fed previously he is very interested in food but he is never aggressive.
Deimos is a very sweet tempered boy who really wants to please his people. He is a lover boy who is affectionate and will do the dobie lean. He loves to play and be outside.

Of course Deimos has all that puppy energy and short attention span so he sometimes finds that what he thinks is great fun doesn't amuse his people. He just needs consistent boundaries and structures so he know how he is supposed to behave to make his people happy. I recommend keeping your trash can in a pantry or under a counter so Deimos doesn't get himself in trouble.
Deimos is crate trained to the point that when ever he sees a crate he runs into it. I think that his former owner fed him in his crate so he associates his crate with food. I prefer to ask him to sit, wait, look at me and then he is released to eat. He is very smart and picked up on this very quickly. At dinner time he gets a treat ball to keep him occupied while we eat.
Deimos rides well in the car. He loves other dogs. I don't know for sure about cats. He is fairly gentle except for those times that he surprises you with a quick jump up. Deimos will bark at strangers but like most dobes his bark is all a show. He should be properly introduced to strangers. Deimos at times can be vocal when you first leave him in his crate although he doesn't usually bark, he kinda of yodels and sings:) He sleeps quietly through the night in his crate unless he needs to go potty.
Deimos just needs some patient, consistent, positive reinforced guidance to help him reach his potential. If you have time and patience to help our sweet boy find his way in the world, email so we can discuss a possible meet up the our boy. Deimos says he would like a home where he is not alone without his people for long hours on a regular basis and a fenced yard would be totally awesome!
Deimos was bought by a young man who didn't know anything about dobes or training dogs and lived in an apartment. Lucky for Deimos, he called DAR&E and asked us to rescue Deimos.
