About Donovan

Meet our adorable black/tan dober-boy named Donovan.  Donovan is 3 years old and weighs approximately 60 pounds.  He has natural ears and a tail!  Donovan is a little thin and needs to gain a little weight.

He loves to go for walks/hikes/runs, no matter the weather.  He is not into toys or sticks but he loves marrow bones.  Donovan will curl up with you on the couch and fall asleep after a good outing.

Donovan does bark when he initially goes in the crate but he settles down quickly.  He will sleep quietly all night long in or out of the crate.  He respects baby gates selectively based on whether you are present.  He has been respecting the baby gates sleeping at night.

Donovan is very food motivated.  He has counter-surfed but is getting better about this.

He knows a few basic commands: sit, paw, come – but he needs food for solid completion.

In his prior life, Donovan was outside a lot.  As a consequence, he has had to relearn indoor potty manners which has been going great.  He has not had any accidents at all in the crate and has not had any accidents in the house for over a week now.

Donovan is currently living with his foster-mom’s dober-dog and a very dog-savvy cat.  He has done really well with both.  He plays with his foster-mom’s dog and has gone hiking with other dogs.

Donovan has pretty good leash manners.  He’s the same dog on every walk.  When he gets excited he will bounce up and down on his front feet but doesn’t try to pull/run away.

Donovan is very smart, independent and comfortable in his own skin.

He is seeking an individual or family that will understand his need for a solid routine, daily exercise and some additional training to bring out the rest of his awesomeness!

This Is My Story

He was surrendered to DAR&E.
