Stockholm's Story

Stockholm was the first dog Dawn fostered for DAR&E, and she will always have memories of how she helped bring love, happiness and warmth into his last days. You never forget your first foster, she says. Stockholm came to me on a rainy May day and spent two months with me. He was a skinny dog prone to flank sucking, but soon filled out and stopped the nervous habit. He was a love, he'd sit at my feet and rest his head on my knee. Stockholm was a gentleman in every sense of the word: a quiet, gentle dog who loved to play tug-o-war and chase after his favorite toy, a large dental rope, but would also lay quietly and chew on a bone...he loved those rawhides!

The vets found Stockholm had some health issues, one of these issues was dilated cardiomyopathy ......a disease that sadly, kills more Dobermans than all other breeds combined. Stockholm crossed the bridge in August 2003. Even in such a short time with DAR&E, he has touched many lives and will be remembered with love.
