TRAINERS

The list of trainers is compiled by volunteers and adopters. Different trainers use different techniques; therefore, DAR&E recommends that you consult each before deciding if he/she is appropriate for your dog and your situation.

To assist you in selecting a trainer, please read this Training Guide.

You can search by state for Certified Pet Trainers at www.ccpdt.org

Select one of the lists below to view information on trainers for that area. The lists are Microsoft Word documents.

Benefits of Obedience Classes - Why DAR&E requires group training!
{Photos of DAR&E dogs in training or showing!}

"We had clicker training and it was great fun!! I hope to go on with advanced obedience or agility, as soon as we get really good at the basics. Betty is a quick learner and very eager to please and the clicker training is lots of fun. I'm really glad you folks require basic obedience. I never did this before and it was very helpful."

"Probably my son will go on with the same trainer. It helped him build a bond with the dog, and it gave him self-confidence. "

"We went into training not really knowing what to expect. The class was very informative and we as owners learned more than expected…..The training classes have been good for Zeus and us. It has taught us how to handle him better and the techniques needed to help him as well."

"They (classes) were great. Ginger learned well and has been much easier to control."

"Yes. Monty enjoys the positive reinforcement when he does what we want him to do. The classes have been helpful in re-training me and my family to deal/interact positively with Monty. It also sets a specific time that we can spend with just Monty."

"He loved the training and it has worked miracles for his confidence as well as his behavior - so will continue obedience to an advanced class and CGC."

"Kathy is involved with Dalmation rescue and was able to provide insight as to how rescue impacts a dog's reactions, personality and ability to learn. Training was also beneficial in teaching us how to change some of the "bad" behaviors. There is a great deal of refinement and new learning that can take place. That, combined with the needed socialization, will make a better situation for everyone."

"Zeus is well behaved but we'll go to the next class because it's good to socialize and build skills. I think it's a good idea to insist on training (I didn't at first)"

"JT began the sessions very cautious and nervous but really flourished in the 6 weeks. He is much more confident and he loves going to class now! This was a WONDERFUL experience!"

"Our dog became accustomed to being around other people and dogs. He became much friendlier to everyone."

"Training helped me to reinforce good habits. I learned a lot. It's more about training me! I've learned to be consistent."

"Romeo and I looked forward every week to training class. Also, practicing what we learned in class provided him with the stimulation he needed both physically and mentally. ……….I plan on signing up for agility class"

"Joshua was very easy to train and was the star of his class! We are planning to continue with obedience classes because Joshua was so good at it and we had a great time."

"A well mannered dog in the house is continued obedience because you either use it or lose it."

"Fun way to spend time with both our dogs and other "dog people"."
