About Greta

Greta is a black/rust dobe with natural ears. We think she is about 7 years old. Greta has not had an easy time of it. She was found several months ago abandoned at a college campus unable to walk. She was emaciated. In addition we discovered she has Wobblers. (Wobblers is the instability of several disks in the base of the neck) In foster care Greta has blossomed. She is a sweetheart. She loves all her dog buddies and all the people she has met. Medicine has greatly improved her mobility and she gets around pretty well now. She will always be a bit unsteady, but don't tell her that, she doesn't have a clue there is anything wrong. She's totally house broken and loves her crate. You could tell by Greta's behavior at first that people have definitely not always been kind to her. Initially she was so anxious, terrified she was going to do something wrong. She cowered and flinched in anticipation of physical punishment. Time has helped a lot, but she still can worry at times, although more often now you see her look of happiness rather than fear.

Greta is looking for a very special home. She can't do a lot of stairs, one or two at the most. Her Wobblers is stable now, but care must be taken to keep it that way. No jumping on or off objects (into/out of cars, couches), no rough housing with other dogs. A harness rather than a collar/leash must be used to minimize the pressure on her neck. We're working on reducing the amount of the meds she's on, but she will most likely need to be on some level of it for the rest of her life.

Greta is an amazing Dobe. She's loving and affectionate, there simply isn't a mean bone in her body. She's totally bonded to her human and follows her foster mom everywhere.
