Are you ready to give a Doberman some hands on help?   Let's get started!

A few of the tasks we always need help with are:

FOSTERING Dobermans in your home – please ask what this entails if you are hesitant . . .
HOME VISITS - interviewing potential adopters so we can find FOREVER homes for Dobermans..
EVENTS – either participating or organizing them . . .
  TRANSPORTS – dogs and/or donated items . . .
FUNDRAISING – our group makes it so easy and it is a limiting factor for how many dogs we can save annually!

FOR SPECIFIC INFORMATION ON THE PROCESS OF BECOMING A DARE VOLUNTEER, SCROLL DOWN!

The steps to become a DAR&E Volunteer are simple; we have outlined them for you on this page. Our volunteer application requires personal and vet references, so you may want to have those names and phone numbers collected before starting. If at any time you have questions about the group or the volunteer application process, please email the Volunteer Coordinator at darevolunteer@yahoo.com for answers!

To submit a volunteer application:

Download our volunteer application by clicking on this link.  In the "File Download" pop-up box, select "Save" and RENAME the file by replacing the word "DARE" with your last name. Then select Save - this will save the application to your computer so you can open it and make changes.

Using your word processing software, open the Volunteer Application and complete it by filling in the blanks.

Save it with the changes, then attach your application to an email (or copy & paste it into the body of an email) and send it to our Volunteer Coordinator at:

darevolunteer@yahoo.com         NOTE:  You cannot email directly from this site.

Please read it through carefully and contact us at darevolunteer@yahoo.com if you have questions or concerns. If not,

Print it out, initial it at the bottom of each page and sign the two statements on the last page then mail the signed original to the address located at the top of the form. Don't forget to keep a copy for your own records!

If you like, feel free to also scan the document before mailing the original and emailing the electronic image so we can schedule your Introduction Call right away! For additional options, please contact the DAR&E Volunteer Coordinator.

The Application Process in a nutshell:

Once you download, complete and send in both forms (the volunteer application & the Code of Ethics*) then:

-   We review your foms and conduct reference checks; if we have any issues during this period, we will notify you.

-   We contact you to schedule an Introduction Phone Call so we can get to know you & you can get to know us.

-   If approved, an invitation to join the group is extended; if denied, an explanation is provided.

(Whenever possible, we will work with you to resolve the issue - let’s be honest, we need your help!)

-   Once you join the group, an Orientation is available to help you get started!

*Why is this form necessary? A Code of Ethics is an agreement among all members that protects each volunteer member of the group as an individual, protects the group as an organization and protects you as well. It is a promise between you and the other volunteers that we will all abide by the policies and by-laws established by the group and respect each other. By extension, it also protects the dogs we rescue.

The Application Process in detail:

The process begins when you complete the Volunteer Application and sign our Code of Ethics agreement then send both documents in. You will receive an email confirmation notice upon receipt of each document. If you email either form as an attachment and don’t hear from us within 48 hours, it means something went astray – please check back with us.

Once both documents have arrived and we've been able to review them, we will schedule an Introduction Phone Call with you to go over your application together, share some information with you about rescue work, discuss our group policies and answer any questions you might have about the group and how we operate. This can take 30 minutes or longer, but is very necessary to both parties!

Remember, we want your help so we will be open with you about any expectations we have. Also, we can only evaluate your request to join the group based on the information we share with each other, so please feel free to ask for explanations regarding any of our questions or policies as we go through this process with you.

Once you are approved as a volunteer, you will receive a confirmation and an invitation to join our electronic Yahoo!Group so you can begin helping out right away. There is also an Orientation call that can be scheduled at this point to help you get acquainted with the group and learn how to navigate our files and information.

Be aware that we cover a large geographic area and this group operates in an electronic environment utilizing email, attachments and online folder systems to organize and distribute information related to tasks and activities. If you are not computer savvy, don’t worry, we keep it as simple as possible and our Orientation is designed to get you in touch with all you will need.

Hello & welcome, we are so glad you are interested in volunteering to save these dogs! Abandoned, neglected and abused Dobermans need a lot of love, nurturing and rehabilitation to successfully rescue and rehome them. DAR&E volunteers work hard to meet their needs by conducting home visits, fostering and adopting the dogs from homes - instead of kennels - and raising the resources to provide shelter, food, and health care for all of our dogs. This is in addition, of course, to finding them forever homes.

It takes a lot of people working together to provide this committed level of care and we always need help with activities like the ones listed on this page in addition to other myriad tasks that our volunteers tackle on a daily basis but are too numerous to provide detail about here.

Volunteering is a rewarding way to spend more time with this special breed and save lives at the same time; not to mention a great way to make new friends both canine and human! DAR&E activity planning occurs primarily online and via email to allow easy and convenient communication between volunteers covering a large geographic area.

When considering the personal commitment you would make as a volunteer, be aware that in this group you would get to choose how many and which type of activities to get involved in each month. We only ask that if you won't be able to contribute for more than three months at a time to notify us so we won't lose touch with you. Try out different activities as much as you like, or find one activity that you are most suited for and contribute as often as you can in that way.

As the Volunteer Coordinator for the group, I want to encourage your interest in our efforts and provide you with the answers and information that may help you get started. If you have questions and need more information about our group before making your decision, email me at darevolunteer@yahoo.com and just give me the opportunity to introduce you to a group of people who love Dobermans as much as you do.

Thanks for caring so much about Dobermans and rescue too.  We’re all hoping to get to know you!

The DAR&E Volunteer Coordinator
