About Pepper/Brownie
Pepper and Brownie are a deeply bonded pair of purebred Doberman Pinschers who truly represent the very best qualities of the breed — unwavering loyalty, remarkable intelligence, and an affectionate, loving nature inside the home. Despite their strong and protective presence, they are both incredibly gentle with the people they trust and are happiest when curled up close to their humans. These two are true “cuddle dogs” who love affection, quiet companionship, and spending time snuggled together. Pepper, especially, never turns down a good belly rub.
Their bond with one another is extraordinary. They sleep side by side, keep watch over the home together, and rely on each other for comfort and security. Having spent most of their lives primarily as yard dogs, they are calm and surprisingly low-key indoors, with an excellent “off switch.” Most of their day is spent quietly relaxing on their beds, and they are well-mannered, non-destructive, and accustomed to a structured routine. They both enjoy natural chewing bones and absolutely love chasing and playing with balls.
Pepper is a 3.6-year-old Black & Tan male Doberman, born on 11/05/2022, weighing approximately 95 pounds. Brownie is a 3.6-year-old Red/Chocolate female Doberman, also born on 11/05/2022, weighing approximately 85 pounds.
Both dogs are fully house-trained and crate-trained, viewing their crates as safe, comfortable spaces. They ride well in the car and settle down nicely once the vehicle is moving, even though they have not traveled extensively.
Pepper and Brownie must be adopted together, as separating them would be extremely difficult for both dogs emotionally. They also need to be the only pets in the home, as they are not suitable for placement with cats, small animals, or other dogs. An ideal home would consist of experienced, breed-savvy adults or older teenagers who understand the needs and temperament of working breeds.
They have received excellent structure and home manners training, and their future adopter will also receive lifelong, fully covered training and behavioral support from professional trainer Jeanie Bieneck of Bark Busters at no cost.
Due to several major life changes and disruptions in their environment, Pepper and Brownie are currently under significant stress. Because they were raised primarily as yard dogs, they are still learning proper leash-walking skills and can be reactive while on leash. They should always be walked separately and require a physically capable, knowledgeable handler who is committed to continuing their structured training and management. A home with a large fenced yard would be ideal for them.
They are also sensitive to extreme temperatures and do not tolerate excessive heat or cold well. Bath time is easily their least favorite activity.
Recently, both dogs experienced a severe stress-related gastric episode and are currently recovering well on a strict, high-quality grain-free dry food diet designed to support their gastrointestinal health. To help ease their transition, a six-month supply of their food will be provided to the adopter, along with their crates, beds, and plenty of treats to help them settle comfortably into their new home.
