Meet Calipso 🐾
Calipso is a 3-year-old black female Doberman with a big personality and an even bigger heart for her people. Imported from Belarus, she’s spent her life eager to please — she loves a good game of fetch, adores her toys and raw bones, and considers the couch next to her favorite human to be her happy place.

Calipso is crate-trained and sees her crate as her safety zone, is fully house-trained, and rides well in the car. She’s leash-trained, though she likes to make her own decisions from time to time (don’t worry, she’ll come around in a few seconds!). Because she’s quick and independent-minded off leash, she needs a home with a fenced yard and a family committed to keeping her leashed on walks.

Calipso does best with active, hands-on people — she has to stay busy and would thrive with a homestay professional, a retired person, or a veteran who can give her structure and attention. She’s wonderful with male dogs and has even been a doting, protective mom herself (she raised a litter of 10 puppies and was, by all accounts, the best mom ever). However, Calipso does not get along with other female dogs and would do best as the only female in the home, or as an only pet.

A few things her ideal family should know: she’s not a fan of being held, she has a chicken allergy (currently thriving on a Costco lamb & rice diet), and she prefers to make her feelings known through barking at other dogs on walks rather than through people — she’s generally easygoing and curious with strangers and children.

Spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines, Calipso is ready for a home where she can be someone’s one and only — and shower them with the same loyalty she’s always given.
