About Lucy

Meet Lucy

Lucy is a sweet, affectionate girl who believes there is no such thing as too much love or too many cuddles! She absolutely lovessss attention and is happiest when she can be near her people. She’s used to having someone home with her for most of the day, and she would love a family who can give her plenty of companionship, affection, and time to feel right at home.

Lucy is a black-and-tan female Doberman weighing approximately 60 pounds. She has natural ears and a tail. She has done well meeting dogs and cats.

Lucy has been through quite an adventure! She suffered bilateral calcaneal tears in both legs and underwent surgery to repair them. Thanks to lots of love, care, and patience, she is now almost fully recovered and making wonderful progress. She can enjoy short walks in her braces and currently wears them whenever she is up on her feet and moving around. She has worked so hard on her recovery, and it has been so exciting to see more and more of her playful personality shine through!

Although Lucy appreciates a good midday nap (don’t we all?), she’s also rediscovering her playful side. As she continues to heal, her zoomies have been making more and more appearances! She has the perfect balance of snuggly couch companion and playful best friend.

Lucy would thrive in a calmer home where she can enjoy a predictable routine, lots of love, and a family who understands her ongoing needs. Older children who have experience with dogs would likely be the best fit for her, along with a securely fenced yard where she can enjoy some outdoor time safely. Her ideal family will understand the importance of keeping her braces on whenever she’s up and walking, follow her recovery guidance, and give her the patience and support she needs to continue thriving.

The hardest part of Lucy’s journey is behind her. Now, she just needs a family who will love her for exactly who she is: a resilient, loving girl with so much affection to give. In return, she’ll bring endless cuddles, plenty of personality, and the kind of companionship that makes a house feel like home.

Could Lucy be your new best friend? Lucy is fostered in Virginia.

This is My Story

For three years, Lucy lived as “the odd one out” — never taken to the vet, fighting for space among three other dogs in the home who wouldn’t accept her. When she came into a local shelter, she weighed just 35 lbs, emaciated and exhausted. Since coming into rescue, Lucy has settled in and shown us who she really is. She is looking for her new forever LOVING home.
