Giving Tuesday

Dear DAR&E Supporters and Doberman Lovers,

I am reaching out to you on Giving Tuesday with an urgent appeal.  Shelters and rescues across the country are full, and dogs keep coming and coming.  For the better part of the year, DAR&E volunteers have been busy driving hundreds of miles each way to pick up abandoned Dobermans on short notice from shelters in rural VA, MD, WV, and PA, and from families looking to surrender their dogs.

Challenging times like this leave me in awe of the commitment our volunteers show in rushing to pick up/rescue, care for, and help Dobermans find their forever homes.  With no thought to the high gas prices, time away from other priorities, and family, volunteers have stepped up to react to the growing need.  Our transport volunteers are literally the lifeline for these Dobermans to make it out of a shelter to a vet for evaluation and treatment.  Our amazing fosters open their homes and hearts to frightened and anxious dogs and help them settle in and get ready for the next step in their journey. Plus, DAR&E volunteers review hundreds of applications, perform vet and reference checks, and meet with potential adopters for in-person and virtual home visits.

Even though DAR&E is a relatively small rescue, our volunteers make a huge impact on the lives of Dobermans.  This year, more than ever, we need your support, due in large part to increases in the cost of medical and routine preventative care.
