About Cooper

Meet Cooper, a 14-month-old, black & tan, male Doberman with a docked tail and natural ears. Cooper is approximately 72 pounds and growing.

Cooper is friendly and enthusiastic about life! He has a good training foundation and picks up on a routine quickly. He is crate trained and house trained, and he knows sit, down, paw, speak, and drop it. Like any young Doberman, Cooper is still working on his puppy manners. He is learning that keeping four paws on the floor is the best way to say hello, but for now he still jumps up when excited. He also countersurfs and will need continued work on his leash skills. In his foster home, he is doing well on walks with an easy-walk, front-clipped harness. On our walks, he is non-reactive to strangers walking by or barking dogs. He does get excited when he sees another dog nearby on walks, thinking they may want to play with him. In his foster home, Cooper has not yet had the chance to be introduced to another dog, but we were told he is dog-friendly. Cooper needs supervision when he is out in the house. Supervised play time to ensure he is not swallowing toys, and tough, power-chewer toys are a must for him. Cooper needs some confidence and help getting into the car, but once inside, he rides well. He does occasionally try to get in the front seat, so he should be secured in a crate or with a dog seatbelt.

Cooper will do best in an active home committed to continuing his training, monitoring his play, and giving him the mental and physical exercise he needs to thrive as a young, playful Doberman with plenty of energy. A home with a fenced-in yard where he can safely zoom around would be his dream. He loves carrying the jolly ball, tennis balls, and frisbees around the yard while he runs and stretches his legs.

Are you ready to welcome this sweet boy into your family? Cooper is ready for his forever family. He is fostered in Maryland.
