About Ellie
Meet beautiful Ellie! She is a cropped and docked, sweet, red female Doberman. Ellie weighs 87 pounds and is a year and a half old. She came to us by way of an owner surrender through no fault of her own. She previously lived with a couple of large breed dogs but is too much for small breed dogs because of her size. Ellie is not good with cats. Ellie wants to be the Queen of the house, so she is looking for a home with an easy-going male dog or as an only dog.
Ellie is a smart, active girl. She loves to play with toys, go for walks, and loves to run around the yard with her Jolly Ball. Ellie is good on the leash but she will pull when she gets excited or smells something she wants to check out. She will benefit greatly from more leash training. Ellie is treat-motivated and is a quick learner. She is already starting to master come, sit, platz, and crate.
Ellie is crate and house-trained. She easily adapted to our daily routine. She sleeps in the crate in our bedroom without any issues. She is also good for at least 5 hours in the crate during the day. She also loves to curl up next to you on the couch or bed when watching TV. She loves attention and will nudge your hand if she wants pets and will put her head in your lap for ear rubs. Because of her size and energy, Ellie is looking for an adult household or one with older children.
In her previous home with other dogs, she was a toy and food-possessive. Since I do not have any other animals, I have not seen this behavior. Ellie does not exhibit this behavior with people. She eats slowly and I am able to stick my hand in her bowl while she eats. She also lets me take toys from her without any issues. If her future home has another dog, her behavior may go back to being possessive of her food and toys.
