About Johnny Hot Dog

Heeeere’s Johnny Hotdog!

A silly, sweet, and snuggly red rust boy, Johnny weighs about 70 pounds and just turned 2. He’s absolutely gorgeous and all-natural: uncropped ears and an undocked tail that he wags vigorously.

He’s a very happy boy!

Johnny Hotdog craves attention and love. He wants to be touching you, as a good Velcro dog should.

He is still learning basic commands, and can sit and will respond to down with some coaching.

He’s curious about the world around him, a dog who loves being outdoors and keeps watch on squirrels and birds. He patrols on a leash but is not aggressive. He’ll do well with a patient person to show him the ins and outs of loose leash walking.

Of all living beings, after people, other dogs draw his interest the most. He can get excited, especially if they bark first. He would probably do best as an only dog.

He came from a home that did not have kids, so we can’t say for sure how he would be with them. But he is naturally sweet, if a bit rambunctious as a teenage Dobe. So we think he would be fine with older kids.

Johnny will go into his crate with minimal prompting, but he prefers to be with his people. He loves to be in your lap, in your bed or hanging around while you are doing your thing.

He doesn’t like it if you spend too much time on the computer and will sometimes try to get between you and the keyboard. Johnny is tall and will surf the counter if unattended. So, keep food high up or in the fridge. We’ve left him home alone in our house–not crated–and he wasn’t destructive.

All in all, Johnny is a sweet energetic dog with a big heart and a willingness to learn. He would make a wonderful companion and quickly fit right into a loving home.
