About Kenna
Meet sweet Kenna! She is a 3-year-old black/tan, female Doberman with a docked tail. She has nice floppy ears that perk up when something interests her. Kenna is a tad overweight, currently at 78 pounds, and is working hard at losing another 5 to 10 pounds. Kenna is house-trained and easily adapts to our daily routine. She is not a big fan of crates, so we let her have access to a couple of rooms during the day when we are not home. She is a good girl while home alone and spends most of the time napping on one of her beds. She can be left for at least 8 hours without any issues. Kenna sleeps on a dog bed in our bedroom at night.
Kenna had an old CCL injury along with some secondary arthritis when she came to the rescue. We got her a consultation with our Sports Medicine vet, and they recommended TPLO surgery. She had that surgery on July 3rd and has been recovering since. She had her x-ray recheck, and the vet is extremely pleased with her progress. She has improved use of her left hindlimb and is weight-bearing. Her activity will continue to be restricted for another few weeks. Kenna takes a joint supplement daily to keep her joints healthy.
Kenna came to us through no fault of her own. She is a sweet and playful girl. She likes to play with all toys and enjoys pulling all the stuffing out of her toys and leaving it all over the house!! She also enjoys a frozen Kong with peanut butter when we leave the house in the morning. And she loves ice cubes and will always ask for a piece when you go into the freezer. She has not lived with other dogs and gets shy while on the leash when around other dogs. Cats and other small critters are unknown.
Kenna is a well-mannered girl. She will follow you all around the house to always know what you are up to. She will also lie at your feet while she waits or lie on one of the dog beds where she can keep an eye on you. She also enjoys lying on the screened-in porch when the weather
is nice.
Kenna gets excited to take car rides! She enjoys looking all around, but will also lie down if it is a long car ride. She also enjoys meeting new people. Kenna is sweet, smart, playful, and loving. Kenna is seeking a family where she doesn’t have to be too active and could live in a one-level home. Her future family will be so lucky to have her. She is being fostered in Virginia.
