About Knox
Knox is a male 6-year-old red Doberman who is fun-loving, goofy, loyal, and affectionate. Knox is neutered, microchipped, and fully up to date on all his vaccines; he’s healthy and ready to settle into his forever home. He completed puppy classes and basic/foundation obedience when he was younger, is house trained, crate trained, and has experience attending doggy daycare and being boarded, which means he is well socialized and can be around other dogs and adults. He is used to having an e-collar on and has been trained with one and responds to it. He can also walk with a prong collar on – he has no experience with harnesses.
Knox is a healthy boy overall, but he does tend to have dry/flaky skin and dandruff. Salmon oil is a must! He is also allergic to chicken, so avoid it at all costs, as that will greatly aggravate his skin.
Knox can be a bit guarded around strangers and can bark or growl if a stranger comes into his space, but he will warm up considerably after being able to give them a proper sniff and time around them. Knox has had limited interaction with small children, but would be fine with older dog-savvy children. Knox has been the only pet his whole life, but he would probably be fine with another female dog in the house if they are smaller than him or the same size – he tends to avoid dogs bigger than him. He does have a strong prey drive and would not do well with other animals, such as cats in the house. If given the chance, he will chase any squirrel! Bikes, scooters, and motorcycles tend to make him nervous, as do plastic bags floating in the wind – one of his quirks!
Knox is not a big fan of the car, but he can be in one if need be. If it’s a long car ride, he’ll need to be medicated to help with his nerves. Trips to new places all the time, such as stores or restaurants, are not for Knox; he won’t appreciate being in the car, so he will be stressed out by the time he gets to his destination. With that being said, he was used to being in a car with his previous owner, who took him to the office 3-4 times a week. If he is in a set routine with a car to the same destination that he gets familiar with, then he’ll do much better.
Knox is looking for his loving forever home through no fault of his own, where he can continue to thrive and be a devoted companion. His ideal home is where he can be part of the family, run without a leash a few times a day, go on walks with his people, and get plenty of ear scratches, belly rubs, and pets!
