About Lucias
Meet Lucius (affectionately called Lulu)
Weight: Approximately 100 pounds
Vaccinations: Up to date
Lucius, or Lulu as we lovingly call him, is a handsome 2-year-old Black & Tan Male Doberman with a very loving personality. He is a sweet boy who enjoys affection, playing fetch, and chasing squirrels in the backyard. When he feels safe and comfortable, he can be an incredibly loving companion who loves to snuggle.
Unfortunately, Lucius is also a very anxious and sensitive dog who gets frightened easily. He finds comfort in familiar surroundings, especially our backyard, which he considers his safe space. He does not enjoy leaving this area, and unfamiliar situations can cause him significant stress.
We love Lucius dearly, but we have come to realize that our home environment is not the best fit for his needs. We want him to have the opportunity to live a happy, comfortable life in a home where he can truly thrive.
House Training and Crate Training:
Lucius is fully house-trained. However, he is not crate-trained or leash-trained. He is most comfortable having access to his familiar surroundings and would benefit from someone with the patience and experience to help him gradually become more confident.
Other Animals and Children:
We strongly recommend that Lucius be the only pet in his new home. He has been having difficulties getting along with our other dog, and we feel he would be much happier in an environment where he does not have to share his space with other animals.
Lucius also has a very high prey drive, so a home without cats or other small animals is essential. He absolutely loves chasing squirrels, and his instinct to chase smaller animals is strong.
We also believe a home without children would be the safest and most appropriate environment for him. He gets overwhelmed and frightened easily, and a quiet, predictable household would allow him to feel more secure.
Car Rides and Leash Training:
Lucius does not enjoy car rides. Leaving home or traveling outside his familiar environment causes him anxiety. He is also not currently leash-trained, so his future owner would need to be patient and willing to work with him at a pace that feels comfortable for him.
Special Considerations:
Lucius is easily startled and can become overwhelmed in unfamiliar or stressful situations. He is particularly uncomfortable leaving the safety of his familiar backyard. We believe he would thrive in a quiet, predictable environment with a securely fenced yard.
An experienced Doberman owner who understands the breed, recognizes signs of anxiety, and is willing to provide patient, positive training would be ideal for Lucius.
Our greatest hope is to find him a peaceful, loving home where he can feel safe, build confidence, and enjoy being the affectionate companion we know he can be.
