About Mickey
Hi, my name is Mickey and I am very affectionate, gentle, 55 pound, approximately 2 year old male. I was found stray by an animal shelter, so I do need to put on a few pounds. Expect me to weigh about 65lbs. Since I arrived at my foster home, a few weeks ago I have been friendly and well mannered when meeting new people. I like to naps in a sunbeam inside the house and if you would like to nap with me I will probably snuggle next to you or lay my head on you, nudge you for an ear or tummy rub and then drift off to sleep.
I like to take walks outside in the yard and I’m just now starting to enjoy playing fetch with my favorite Kong toys. I know basic obedience commands like “sit” and I’m working on “stay”. I’m very curious and like to investigate just about everything outside so sometimes I will pull when on a leash. I will also pull on the leash when I see other dogs. I have been a little bit cautious when meeting other large dogs, but I usually warm up to them fairly quickly. I’m calm in the house, but if I someone knocks on the door, or I hear the doorbell I will bark to let you know.
Inside the house I’m house-trained, well-behaved and crate-trained. I have climbed on the couch and bed to be next to someone. I love to have physical contact with people. In the few weeks I’ve been at my foster home I have not chewed on anything other than my toys but I have picked up shoes, slippers, etc, and carried them to my bed or my crate. I sleep in my dog bed at night, but not in my crate. I might wake up once in a while and nudge you with my muzzle, but I’ll go right back to sleep. I will do best in a new home where someone is home most of the day for a least a few week after my adoption.
I’m well behaved when riding in the car and I’ll get into a car with no problem, but I should have someone riding with me or be in a safe restraint, otherwise I will try to sit in your lap when you’re driving.
